Colorado Springs Bike Courses
Colordo Springs lies at the base of the foothills leading into the Rocky Mountains.
For the Bike rider, there are a lot of bike frendly courses to take your road bike out for a spin...
In this section, I will try to document some of the courses I have been on and have found a bike friendly and
safe environment. Any time you ride the roads, there is always an element of danger from debris and unfriendly
drivers. The courses I will highlight have wide shoulders that offer an extra margin of safety for the rider.
Each course will contain a description of the road, best starting point, and
links to various graphs of the terrain. I try to present the course using topo,
terrain, satellite, and street views so you can choose the view that best suits your
needs. I also have a link to google earth via a kml file. You will need to have
google earth installed on your system to take advantage of this feature.
The rides will be found in the greater Colorado Springs Area. Going as far north as
Larkspur and south to Fountain and Widefield. To the west I will range up into the
foothills and areas around Pikes Peak.

Links to Local Rides
This ride is on the Air Force Academy Roads. It is a clssic ride used by many local riders. For the less adventure minded,
the lower part of the course can be ridden and the major climbs avoided.
This ride is a loop around the Peregrine subdivision on local Roads. It is a short but good ride on mostly wide
streets and some bike lanes. It can be combined with other rides in the area for a longer workout when needed.
This ride is a loop around the Mountain Shadows subdivision on local Roads. I included Centennial Road to Filmore Ave
in the loop to give it a little more distance. It is still a short but good ride on mostly wide
streets and Mostly bike lanes. It can be combined with other rides in the area for a longer workout when needed.
